Even more AWESOME Music

Hello guys,

today I want to present various bands which in my opinion deserve to be mentioned.
On top of that I will explain why they are awesome and why you definitely should go hear what they propose.

Firstly the french band Phoenix makes some awesome songs .

They actually are the most known french band worldwide. Moreover they are coming from my town, Versailles.

They are doing independent pop/pop Rock.
The singer has a really unique voice and the rhythmic are light and easily appreciable.
Here are some songs :
If I ever feel better
everything is everything
Consolation prizes

Now to change worlds here is an alternative Metal-band Staind. He has a really low voice and is singing in a very powerful way. Moreover this band isn't as aggressive as some other Metal-bands are.

For instance this song is calm : The Corner
whereas this song is a little bit more agitated : Now

and they did an interesting song with Snoop Dog : Wannabe

Die Ärzte is a German rock band well known in Germany. It didn't expand to other country's mainly because they are singing in German with serious content.
They are really funny and their music light and enjoyable
So just try to listen and understand what they are saying in German:
Here is a pretty song Living Hell while
Lasse Redn is more humorous.

Previously mentioned in my Metal-Post I'm talking about Black Sabbath.
Black Sabbath is an old Heavy Metal/Hard Rock-band.
With awesome guitar riffs they always do very good intros. Exactly what some new music is lacking.
Moreover they also do more calm songs which transports you in another world (sort of ) :
Planet Caravan , Changes
and more Heavy Metal-songs like paranoid and crazy train.

So these are some awesome bands I often listen to. Feel free to share some bands you like. It does not have to be Rock bands every genre can be AWESOME.

Bye

Gotg AWESOME Music

Hello awesome friends,

here we are again to speak about the music of guardians of the galaxy.

Indeed this movie which came out this summer has the
best music in a movie since a long time.

The music used is basically 70s-80s music.
With soft rock, pop, funk or soul-music they impose a pretty light and joyful
atmosphere.

For instance there is a scene where they are escaping a prison and this song

I am not going into details for each songs but here is the playlist. Therefore you can discover as I did the joy of the 70s-80s-songs:

These songs remind me how loud the recent songs have become ( I am talking about the most popular ones). Today's music has loud basses and harsh rhythmic but it is nice sometimes to look back to those songs which are lighter and set up a different more peaceful atmosphere. Let me know what you think!

Bye bye

punk ROCK

Hello my awesome friends,

today I'm going to present to you punk rock.
It stands in opposition to progressive Rock or Metal who I already spoke about.
In fact they want to detach them from the new direction with the hard rock etc.
The punk rock Bands want to return to the simplicity of rock.
They talk about a punk revolution.

Globally it is short and quite fast songs. Generally the voice is noisy and they are sometimes shouting.
Rooted in garage rock it emerges with the band Ramones (70s) from whom band I doesn't know much.
Then there were the well-known Sex Pistols and the Clash who made Punk rock really popular.

Later Green day, the Offspring and Blink 182 evolved the Punk music by making pop punk songs. The reunion of pop and punk is really interesting.

The Philosophy of this music is to reject virtuosity so that even people with not much musical skills could express themselves with music. Generally the voice is noisy and they are sometimes shouting.

Today I am not giving you some songs you should hear because I'm really not very fond with punk rock. On the other hand I find pop punk quite good. I prefer virtuosity and very long songs like in progressive Rock; so you should check out that post.
Let me know, how do you feel about this kind of Rock and give me good arguments for why it's good or not.

Bye Bros

ONE of THE guitar-LEGENDS

Hello my awesome followers,

I'll talk today about one musician in particular. On awesome guitar-player who all guitarists already know. I am talking about Joe Satriani.

                                                     source wikipedia

Born in 1956 he grew up with jimmy Hendrix as an idol. Then in 1986 he started his career as a world-class guitarist. He became famous very quickly, playing as a solo-guitarist in many different places. He was the guitarist of Deep purple for a few moments, an awesome hard rock band, which i command you to check out! But he stayed alone doing many collaborations, working with bands like Dream Theater for instance.

He has also his own Ibanez-guitar series. How cool is that?

Satriani is well known for mastering all kinds of guitar-techniques. His variety of play-styles really defines him. He uses legato, two-handed tapping and arpeggio tapping, volume swells, harmonics and extreme whammy bar effects. He also developed his own style, also influenced by fusion jazz and blues. He is recognisable.

Some of my favourite songs are :

- I believe (for the amazing intro)

- crying (because of the amazing round sound of his guitar)

- Surfing with the alien ( just a masterpiece)

He also had the initiative to organize the G3 where 3 guitarist play together. Many good guitarist already participates with an awesome result. I invite you to check that out. G3

METALLLLL

Hello awesome followers,

I am back to convince you to love Metal-Musik. I already presented Dream theater and progressive Metal but I am going now to go further in metalmusik and focus on heavy metal, trash metal, grunge etc...
Metal is not the most loved genre of Musik. Indeed many just find it loud and noisy but I will show you more.

Metal takes his roots in Hard Rock and Blues Rock; it takes the Hard rock riffs and makes them faster. One good Hard Rock band is Aerosmith if you like to check it out  : walk this way.

Metal is not my favorite sub-genre but it sure impresses me. I love the guitar solos in these songs. It is not like Rock Solos who are very harmonic. Metal is playing with dissonances and goes really, really fast so that as a result it is like a wave going up and down. The drums are awesome too, really fast and requires a lot of skills. Usually Metal drummers have a really big drum-set.
But at last it is clear that the voices are the most amazing. They give literally everything, from using many octaves (like Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden) to shouting loudly (Till Brindamm, Rammstein)

It is hard to get in to it at first and I still struggle wit some songs like some of System of a down (cigaro) , but some songs are just magically constructed.

My favorite Bands are Metallica (the Unforgiven II), Iron Maiden (the number of the beast), Black Sabbath (Paranoid) or some songs of Guns n roses (welcome to the jungle).

Bye awesome friends.

Rock subgenre that impresses me !!!

Hello awesome followers,

Today I am going to present you one of a sub-genre of rock music, and it is awesome !!!

So I am presenting to you progressive Rock/Metal.
This Rock-music is, for me, the most impressive.

Before going in to the details of the songs and groups, I will explain to you why it is awesome.
Progressive Rock is a genre that came from the psychedelic Rock or Art Rock in the 60s / 70s.
The bands abandoned the pop song short singles to make more important compositions. They wanted to enhance critical respect in comparison with classical or jazz music.

The progressive Rock songs are so long (5 to 40 minutes long suites) and with many different themes. It is usually varied and requires generally high musical skills. The innovative aspect really impresses me. They always find a way songs to find new inspiration while doing really long songs.
Besides, this music demands more effort from the listener, to really follow this music.

Progressive Rock had its creative peak in the 70's, then it began to fade when progressive Rock, influenced by heavy metal too, revived it, but it never was very popular, popmusic being way easier to follow and to dance to.

One of those bands is Yes, which began in 1968 and is now seen as one of the first bands of progressive Rock.

Here is one song by them: (observe the varied themes and try to resist to the 10 minutes of this song)

yes - Starship Trooper HD verion
yes - Starship Trooper Live Version (AWESOME solos at 7"30)

Another way more known band is Pink Floyd. No introduction here. One of my favorite songs who is a bit different to the most of their popular songs. It is very long, with various themes and try's to really to immerse the listener in another world. To listen while no noise around.

                       pink floyd - echoes

Another prog Rock Band is Supertramp, who begins in 1969 and makes big sales in the 70's.
Their songs are long with many other instruments than the usual instruments of a Rock band (guitar, bass, drums). With an instrument like saxophone, they don't stop impressing me how inspiring their music can be.
One of their best songs is "Fool's overture". The song is 11 min long and the singer starts at 5 min in to the song. This shows how instrumental progressive Rock is. Unlike Pop-songs or the punk/pop- Rock the most attention isn't given to the singer.

                     Supertramp - Fools Overture

If you're interested in the awesomeness of progressive Rock you have many more Bands to explore. (Jethro Tull, he Moody Blues, Genesis, ... ) Even Muse can be put under the Prog Rock banner with Undisclosed desires- the resistance.

One last Ban who represents more the progressive Metal is Dream Theater.
They do really long songs with more guitar solos and are a little bit less influenced by psychedelic rock than the previous Bands. As a guitar player I can just enjoy these riffs.
One of my favorite songs :
This track is awesome don't you think !!!

                     Dream Theater - Metropolis I

I hope you will enjoy this Prog Rock presentation and see how impressive that is. Even if you're not really enjoying this you can see the effort put in to it and the talent of the Bands. Such longs song are not profitable, because they take longer to make and don't fit in most people's interests. I have no hope that Prog Rock will return like it was in the 70's, but it is still awesome.

Sincerely,
Your awesome blogger
